Need to focus on heating in the north

Owning a cooling system in the north is like owning a donkey.

It is totally unnecessary, kind of cool and worth mentioning in conversation.

An air conditioner just isn’t required in the north sadly. Our weather is basically cold all year around. The summer season is weeks rather than months. Summers get to maybe 80 degrees and it is rainy most of the time. The nights also cool down enough where fans and open windows do the job any cooling system could. The name of the game in the north is heating. Everybody has to own a heater. The temperatures can get into the -20s and the windchill is worse. I remember trick or treating in the snow and hunting for eggs in the snow as well. I remember being cold in my final semester of college in May. most homes can’t even get by with a single heater either. My home uses a gas fireplace in the living room. It looks pretty and can heat just that single room. The connected office is always freezing cold. I finally splurged and got a ventless heater so the kitchen pipes won’t freeze. Upstairs I have another heater that handles all the bedrooms and bathrooms. Every door needs to be kept opened or the heat doesn’t reach. On top of this, I use a heated mattress pad and blanket. I even have a few space heaters in the attic for when company comes. All of these things working together and my house can maybe get to 72 degrees. My house is pretty airtight, it is just that ocld.
