The kids had placed teddy bears blocking the vent in their room

Then my sister and I went into the kids’ bedroom to inspect why they were so sweaty.

My sister flew in to surprise my kids and me last summer. She knew I was having a tough time after the separation and wanted to be there for us. The last time we spoke, she was away attending some business conference on the other side of the country. I missed her but didn’t want to appear too needy. But I knew she heard the strain in my voice, and I was not surprised when she turned up at my door after her trip. Behind her were packages full of toys for the kids. Zi asked her where all that was going to fit as we embraced. The kids were so happy with their gifts, and they took the teddy bears to their room to play with. Later we had dinner and went to sleep because we had great plans for the next day. At around 3 am, my youngest child came into my room covered in sweat. That seemed odd since the AC unit was running. As I helped him get cool, his older sister came in covered in sweat too. I let them sleep in my bed then made a mental note to check the air conditioning in their room in the morning. They slept peacefully since there was ample cool air blowing into my room. We woke up late the next morning and got busy preparing breakfast. Then my sister and I went into the kids’ bedroom to inspect why they were so sweaty. It took some time for us to realize what they had done. The kids had arranged all their huge teddy bears in front of the vent. This was blocking cool air from blowing into the room, causing them all the discomfort.
