Once Grandfather passed away, Grandmother didn’t want to live in the city anymore.
- All of the traffic made it strenuous for her to walk.
She wanted a place to live with her cats without much fuss, however my mom was not sure about this. But she knew that Grandmother was going to make a move either way. So, as a way to keep her closer, my mom began looking for properties just outside of the city; There was an estate out there that was selling portions of the land. There was a place with several lake houses that interested buyers could look at… Grandmother, Mom, and I drove to the area, and it was beautiful! Even though there were trees all around, it was ten minutes from the city, and Grandmother had new neighbours all around the lake. The houses were ready for occupation. But the new buyers had to install a cooling and heating plan before they could start moving in. Mom and Grandmother began talking about the best heating plan for the area since they’d already decided they wanted the house. When the purchase was complete, my mom hired an A/C expert to assess the house and give a recommendation for the best heating unit since the area had long winters most of the time. The A/C expert said that they should get a heat pump. The heat pump was pretty costly to buy and set up, however ultimately it had fewer costs in the long run. That was in terms of energy consumption and maintenance. Grandmother ended up getting the heat pump for her lake house, and she loves it there.
