Camping With a Portable Heater

Most people choose a tropical spring break vacation.

After a long, cold winter, everyone is eager to dip their toes in the ocean and soak up some natural vitamin D.

My friend had a different idea for spring break this year. Instead of staying on the beach for a week, we decided to go camping for a long weekend. We thought it would be fun to try something different. One of my friends liked to camp with his family a lot, so he had a tent, grill, and sleeping bags for all of us. We really didn’t need to buy anything else! As I was packing, I was worried about the decreased temperatures at night. I wasn’t sure the sleeping bag would keep me warm enough, so I packed a ton of extra layers. I actually wanted to sleep through the night. On the first night, I started putting on all my layers and preparing for a long night. The temperature had dropped to fifty degrees. When my friend saw how many layers I’d put on, he just laughed. He went to his truck and came back with a small black box. I asked him what it was, and he said it was a portable heater. He plugged it into the electricity behind the tent, and our tent was heated within minutes. I couldn’t believe how warm it made our small tent! That night, everyone went to bed sandwiched between each other and slept comfortably in the heat. With a portable heater, I think I’ll have to go camping more often!
