I wasn’t too thrilled when I learned that there was only one local HVAC company in the area I moved to. I moved to this place for work as I had been promoted. The negative side was the fact that I moved to a climate that is especially cold in the winter season. Oddly enough, it gets super overheated in the summer, and it’s just hard for my body to get used to. Well, before I faced the winter, I realized I would have to call the HVAC experts to make sure my heating system was ready to handle such a dire winter. Fortunately, the house also has a fireplace, so I knew that I could rely on that. Of course, it was hard to find a chimney sweep who could make sure my fireplace was in excellent condition before the winter. The chimney sweep though was easier to get out to my home than the HVAC company. When I called the HVAC company, the guy told me we had to make an appointment to see what was going on with my heating equipment. When he scheduled the appointment for 2 weeks later, I asked why I couldn’t get anything sooner. I was saying how they were backed up as they were the only HVAC company for a long distance. Apparently, other HVAC companies refuse to come to the area because it’s too far of a drive for them. Because of this, the HVAC company not only takes their time getting to your house, but they charge a small fortune! I couldn’t believe how much I paid to have my heating system tuned up and I thought I might be better off becoming an HVAC pro on my own to handle my own heating equipment maintenance.
