When we first got sent home from the zone controlled HVAC comfort of the office, all I wanted was to get back.
But 18 months later, when we all had a chance to get back to the office, I stayed working remotely.
Ironically, a big reason for that was the quality heating and air in my new home office. But the great heating and cooling upgrade to the home office was not the only reason. Once I finally started to get the rhythm of working at home, it sort of opened up a whole new world to me. That was a huge surprise because I loved working with my friends and colleagues in the office. And I loved the zone controlled HVAC in that office. I had a thermostat right near my desk so we enjoyed the perfect thermostat setting in that section of the office. The HVAC cooling when I first started working at home was a big problem and one that had to be solved right away. The space I had for my office was at the end of the house and subject to all day direct sunlight heating. It was unbearable in there so I called the HVAC professionals to get a ductless heat pump installed. This was just the ticket and that summer became my most productive when it came to my work. The quality of my work just seemed to rise as I got more comfortable with working remotely. So once most of the staff was vaccinated and the office reopened, I had a decision to make. And that finally came down to the fact that I was better at my job while working from the quality heating and air of my home office.
