Winter prep to save on HVAC heating is happening this year

Each time we go into the winter, I swear that I’m going to prepare the house so that the HVAC equipment can operate at peak efficiency.

This is always my aim but I get sidetracked every time. Although, if I’m honest, I’m not so sure that I’m sidetracked as much as I’m lazy. I actually let things sort of distract me from doing the sort of household stuff that most dudes should be doing. I suck at being a handyman and I don’t pretend otherwise. So perhaps that’s why I always find a way to let the winter prep on my house get by me. Not this year. And the fact that it’s August and I’m already under way should be a clear indication of my intentions. I’m just tired of feeling like I’m just pouring money down the HVAC heating hole when I don’t have to. We are fortunate enough to have a very nice gas furnace which was built to be really efficient. Yet, it’s not going to be as efficient as it can be without some help. Our house is older and there are plenty of places that allow the cold in and the HVAC heating out. So after going online to the HVAC company website, that’s where I started. I replaced all the weather stripping along with a pair of storm doors. Then, I sealed up all the gaps and cracks on the exterior, added more insulation and had the HVAC technician do the HVAC heating maintenance on the gas furnace. It’s not even September and I’m ready.
