Going into my latest winter, I’m way more comfortable now that I know just what to expect from these sorts of winters.
The first Winter season was a truly extreme education when it came to heating house.
I also got schooled to what it’s like to live in sub-freezing weather for ten weeks. It just felt so intense plus far more demanding than I ever realized. But there is no way for me to have known for real since I grew up down in the south. Our winters consisted of having the heater on maybe a dozen times all winter. And a real frigid snap I might have to put on something other than flip flops and shorts. So when I got transferred up here for a modern task, I knew I was in for some seasonal changes, but what I didn’t realize was just how strenuous a winner can be. Thankfully, I got a home that just had all the Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment updated including the natural gas furnace. We’re that not the case, I might not be making an attempt at my latest winter. I truly would have just packed up, tucked my tail between my legs plus gone back to the heater. But the natural gas furnace in my home got me through last winter. I could not have known how much the Heating, Ventilation and A/C heating costs were. But now I have l received a lot more about how to prep the home to hold down the heating costs. I am also a lot more comfortable with the fact that there is just so much frigid here. I believe leaning into acceptance when it came to this type of Winter is the only way I will get through 3 more.
