I have to say that this past holiday season was the best one I’ve experienced since I got married.
And honestly, my wife actually made Christmas fun for me again.
When I was a kid, it was a time of great sorrow inside the central air conditioning of my mom’s house. For some reason, Christmas just brought out the worst in my mom. She was a single mom who did her best but she was always so depressed at Christmas. So I didn’t come into my marriage with a passion for Christmas spirit. And the fact that we always had to travel up to spend Christmas with my mom and her folks was a drag. This Christmas was different because I was at home and in charge of my own thermostat. Or at least, I was in charge of the thermostat inside the room I was sleeping in. Both my mom and my in laws were always putting on way too much heating for my tastes. So my mom passed a few years ago but we still went up north. We realized that maybe we could have the in laws down here and inside the central air conditioning of our home instead. That’s exactly what we did this Christmas and it turned out just great. I loved being able to host my in laws and the kids weren’t stuck at their grandparents either. But having the zone controlled HVAC was a big hit with the in laws. I don’t need much heating as our Winter is mild. But my in laws could get all the heating they wanted from the heat pump on the guest room side of the house.
