Dad had come into my room so we could talk about the summer trip we were planning.
Soon, I hoped to find work, and it might get hard to find time for such adventures.
So, we wanted to go on one last ride. Then, I’d get back and jump even deeper into job hunting. Ever since the first time dad took me fishing with him, we have always gone on a trip during summer. We’d pick a week in June or July to explore a new place. We go fishing, camping, hiking, or all three. This time we planned to do all three, and dad was renting a camper van. Modern camper vans are like houses on wheels. We had such a blast, and while there I did get to apply to a vacancy I got. I lost my job last winter when the HVAC company I was working for went belly up. It’s funny there’s so much HVAC work to do, but the management did a poor job. So, the owner opted to sell the HVAC business and I was out of a job. Thankfully, I still live at home, so the shock of it all wasn’t that bad. Dad wanted to cheer me up, so we kept talking about the trip while I was applying for other HVAC jobs. During the trip, I saw this company had vacancies for residential HVAC technicians and applied. I hoped they’d get back to me as soon as I was back home. But, the call for an interview came a day late. I was so far away so I asked to reschedule, and lucky for me, they agreed.
