It seems as if the working folks’ position just keeps on slipping.
The amount that we do continues to rise as the monetary remuneration for that work continues to slip.
I see the vise getting turned tighter on the majority of us while the rich continue building their wealth. I just wonder how long this whole cycle can sustain itself before there is some violent consequences. Not that it’s not violent enough right now. I can remember how my dad was home with his feet up in the Heating or A/C comfort by 5:30 every night. And he didn’t work more than 8 hours a day and weekends were out of the question. And, this was a girl who was an executive as well who did really well for herself and her family. Those times are gone. It’s finally getting to the point where I have had to take on a side job myself. And that’s a side job after my 55 hour per week job. If I don’t do this, my kids are not going to university and also our standards of living will be going down. And it gets harder and harder to find places to cut the household budget. Our cars are already old, I gave up playing hockey due to the expense, and my spouse buys her clothes at discount places. This is all great but it seems a bit much considering how strenuously we work. I’ve also attempted to trim other stuff. I take care of household projects now. No more calling the handyman for us. A lawn service is out of the question now. I just have to get my child out there once a week. But, I am not giving up my Heating and A/C comfort. That I won’t do. I’m not going to sweat or freeze in my own house.
