You have to draw the line somewhere

No more calling the handyman for me.

It seems as if the working class position just keeps on slipping. The amount that we all work continues to rise as the monetary remuneration for that work continues to falter. And I see the vise getting turned tighter on the vast majority of us while the rich continue building their wealth day by day. I just wonder how long this cycle can sustain itself before there is some real violence. Not that it’s not violent enough out there right now already. I can remember my Mom was home with her feet up in the Heating and Air Conditioning comfort by 5:30 every evening after work. She didn’t work more than 8 hours plus weekends were out of the question. And, this was a guy who was an executive and he did really great for himself plus his family. Those times are gone. It’s finally getting to the point where I have been forced to take on a side task. That’s a side task after my 55 hour per week regular job. But if I don’t do this, my kids are not going to college plus our way of living hits the skids. It gets harder and harder to find places to chop the household budget down, too. Our cars are old, I gave up playing golf, and my kids buy all their clothes at thrift stores. And this is all fine and good. But I think it seems a bit much considering how hard the two of us work. I have attempted to trim other stuff. I always take care of household projects now. No more calling the handyman for me. A lawn service is now out of the question, and I just have to flog my child to get out there once a week to mow. But, I am not giving up my Heating and Air Conditioning comfort. That I simply won’t do. I’m not going to sweat or freeze in my own home with no Air conditioning or heating.
