I turned on the news the other morning and l saw that a local family had experienced a fire and lost everything; Thankfully, their family members plus pets all escaped the horrific fire, but their home and belongings were a total loss. With it only being four days before Christmas, I cannot imagine how the family must have felt to see the old house they loved destroyed! Of course, their mean source of happiness was the fact that they were all alive and safe.I wanted to do anything I could to help. The news reported that the fire had started in the basement of the house and I assumed that it had something to do with the HVAC unit, because, in our area, many of the homes are older and have basements that have these sizable units plus if they are not operating correctly they can surely start a fire. The other issue, in various cases, is the fact that people stacked boxes and old newspapers too close to the equipment and these combustible items can easily catch fire. I am not sure if that is the exact cause but in any case I try to tell people of these dangers whenever I visit their homes to do a tune-up on their systems. The news program went on to tell us how to help this family in this desperate time and one of the ways that we can help was a GoFundMe account that was set up to raise money for their home.
