A good holiday break

I turned on the news the other day and l saw that a local family had experienced house fire and lost everything. Thankfully, their family members and pets had escaped the horrific fire but their old house and belongings were a total loss. Then, with it only being two days before Christmas, I can’t imagine how the family must have felt to see the old house they enjoyed destroyed. Of course, their main source of happiness was the fact that they were all alive and well. I wanted to do anything I could to help. The news reported that the fire had started in the basement and I assumed that it had something to do with the HVAC unit. In our town, several of the homes are older and have basements with an immense component and if they are not operating properly, they can produce a fire. The other issue, in several cases is the fact that people stacked boxes and such too close to the component and these combustible items can catch fire. I’m not sure if that has the exact cause but in any case I try to tell people of these dangers whenever I visit their homes to do a tune-up on their systems. The news program went on to tell us how we can help this family in this desperate time and one of the ways that we could help was through a GoFundMe account that was set up to raise donations for their home. I talked to my boss when I got to my job that day and he offered to give the family a gift certificate towards the purchase of a modern heating and A/C unit when they got to the point of rebuilding. I think that might seem like a little thing but it is one of the biggest expenses when it comes to replacing appliances and I was cheerful that he was willing to offer.
