When someone asks me where I work and I tell them that I work for the HVAC company, they assume I am an HVAC technician. I get a lot of questions about being a female HVAC tech and many people want advice on their HVAC problems. When I tell them that I’m not an HVAC technician, they look at me like I’m lying to them. I work for the HvAC company but I’m not an HVAC technician, but I am one of their secretaries. Without me and the other secretary, no one would get any service. We know which HVAC tech specializes in HVAC installation. Some of the techs specializes in inspection and repair. Other HVAC techs just specialize in doing maintenance checks. We also have some that like doing air conditioning emergency repair while others enjoy furnace emergency repair. It is up to myself and the other secretary to know who is who and which one is on call when the customer calls. We set up the times and make sure the HVAC technician has the right information, directions, and tools that they need for the repair. It would be really bad to send someone to the wrong house, or to have them prepared to do a simple maintenance check when they need to inspect and repair the HVAC equipment. I also do the billing and if there is a need for a payment plan, I do all of the paperwork to get that payment plan implemented. I may not be an HVAC technician, but my job is just as important.
