My grandmother keeps telling me that when she is gone, she wants me to get the window air conditioning unit that she has used for most of her life.
She told me that her father bought the air conditioning unit back in the early 1930’s.
I’m sure it was really expensive since most people didn’t even know you could get air conditioning in a home. She’s lucky her dad was well to do. When he passed away, he gave the air conditioning unit to my grandmother and she has used it ever since. The cost of window air conditioners has really dropped since her father bought this old one. The cost of parts for her AC unit is through the roof, which means that a new AC would be cheaper in upkeep. I’m surprised she can even find parts for the antique AC unit. She has had her air conditioner cleaned and maintenance done every year and she really does take good care of it. She swears that it is going to be worth a ton of money someday and that I will be rich because of the air conditioner. I wouldn’t doubt what it is worth because of how old and unique it is. I don’t know where she has found the parts to fix the air conditioner when it breaks down, and as I said, they probably cost her a mint. I’m not sure if I want that huge machine in my window but if it makes her happy knowing that it is mine, I think I would really like to have it.
