I thought the thermostat temperature seemed a little high

When I came to work one day, the indoor air quality seemed much warmer and humid than usual.

I thought it was the temperature outside and I didn’t think about the temperature again until one of my co-workers started to complain.

I agreed that the temperature seemed a bit warm so I got up from my deck and I went to the kitchen to find the thermostat and adjust the temperature. I located the thermostat in the kitchen and I realized there was a small plastic box surrounding the thermostat. The plastic box had a lock that required a key. The temperature on the digital display was 76 degrees. The normal temperature inside the office is usually 72 degrees. It’s no wonder everyone of us was uncomfortable. I knew the boss put a lock on the box to keep us from changing the temperature. I marched into the office and I demanded some answers. I’ve been employed by the company for ten years and they paty us peanuts. My boss tried to dodge the question while he moved from side to side in his seat. I left the office and I called the human resources department. I filed a complaint over the indoor air temperatures and I had thirteen additional employees sign the letter. The human resource director met with me a few days later and tried to explain how cost effective it was to change the indoor temperatures. I really didn’t care about saving money when we were sweating in the office all day. I told the director that I would call the union representative if they didn’t get rid of the lock and key.
