Too unsafe for HVAC work

My buddy Corwin has been staying on my couch for a few weeks, and he has just about worn out his welcome.

Corwin is the type of guy who needs a lot of help.

He is also very devoted to his friends, and will do whatever he can to help them, but he rarely has anything to offer that is very helpful. This is not the first time he has stayed with me while seeking a permanent place to live. What he needs to do is find a good job and start putting money away. He has asked me more than once about getting him hired with the HVAC contractor I work for, but I am very hesitant about that. Corwin has never had a job he hasn’t screwed up, and the HVAC business can be dangerous for people like that. We run a safe work site, and a safe HVAC work crew, but all it takes is one reckless person to have an on the job injury. I heard about another job site someone hadn’t fully bolted in one of the air vents properly, and it slipped and sent a guy to the hospital. I work with a steady crew of HVAC techs and we all look out for each other so I can’t risk someone like Corwin coming in and making a mistake. Although skilled trades like HVAC work and others pay pretty well and are accessible to anyone, for people like Corwin I think that sticking to retail sales or something harmless is the best way to go.
