Leave the HVAC repairs to certified HVAC workers

There is a reason that an HVAC repairman is certified and licensed.

HVAC is a complicated mixture of engineering and physics.

This is the realm for HVAC professionals and they go through intense training to be experts in heating and cooling. It’s also why they guarantee their work. I now guess the difference and dislike that I had to learn it the hard way. Last Spring, the temperature popped up quite high for a week. This led myself and others to flip the heat pump control component switch from heating to cooling. Actually, the heat pump hadn’t done much, if any, heating in a month or more by that point. But I was surprised to find that the house just would not cool off even though the control component was switched to cooling. I could assume the air blowing but it wasn’t cool. I should have called the HVAC company right then but I didn’t. I figured it was an HVAC recharge situation. And for some inexplicable reason, I felt I was the guy for the job. I got the recharge kit and watched a video online to see what to do. I did my best to copy what I saw. But the fact that I am not an HVAC professional resulted in myself and others over doing the recharge which messed up the compressor or something. Needless to say, it was a fiasco which resulted in a much more luxurious HVAC maintenance than was originally necessary. So take it from me, there is a reason an HVAC professional is certified and licensed. They guess what they’re doing and do it for a living.
