I’m often guilty of trying to find the cheapest alternative to just about anything that I need or want.
That’s just part of our DNA I suppose.
Having been raised by a genuinely frugal dad and mom, I guess I just took after them. So when our HVAC component started having trouble, I looked for the cheapest way to have it tested. What I found was that there was a whole lot of people out there that claimed they could do the work. And those who were the cheapest were not exactly part of an HVAC business. When I checked with a few HVAC companies here locally, I found that they were all fairly close in price. However, there were plenty of other chances for heating and cooling repair that were far less upscale. Before I just dialed up a single of the cheaper options, I did a bit of research and I’m ecstatic that I did. First, I found out that those offering HVAC repair for much less were neither licensed nor certified. Many of them claimed to be former HVAC servicemans but none of them were currently credentialed HVAC servicemans. Then I found out that those offering HVAC repair without licenses would not guarantee their work. That was a genuinely immense eye opener. When I checked to see what went into being a certified HVAC professional, it became clear they were the most qualified. And all the HVAC professionals guaranteed their work as well. Finally, I found out that having anyone but a trained, licensed HVAC serviceman working on the HVAC unit would void the warranty. Needless to say, I called the HVAC business.
