I can only do so much with getting him a job and I can’t hold his hand all of the time because I have work of my own to do each day
We didn’t have the best practice sessions this past weekend. My bandmate wasn’t in such a good mood and it resonated throughout our practice sessions the whole weekend. He is really broke and is relying on playing music to survive, which adds undue pressure to our playing and takes away from the performance aspect. He really needs to find a normal job and get some income, so then we can just focus on playing and not worry about making money. I don’t rely on the money we make playing music and it is a lot less stressful. Gas furnace repairs and fireplace cleaning is my main job, and my bandmate needs to find the same kind of thing so he isn’t always pushing us to make money when we play. He is a great musician but a terrible businessman and has no clue when it comes to finding a job. I got him a job doing heater maintenance, but he ended up losing the job because the HVAC rep boss was tired of him always coming to work late or not showing up at all. I can only do so much with getting him a job and I can’t hold his hand all of the time because I have work of my own to do each day. He was doing good with his heated floor installs, but then after a few weeks he started missing work or not making it into the HVAC business at all some days. I guess you can’t take the music out of the musician and he just needs to do music.
