You may know it’s crazy, but growing up, a/c was a luxury to me plus my family, then my buddy and I had window a/c units in a couple of rooms, but my great friend and I rarely used them to conserve electricity plus money.
My buddy and I often had to rely on simply opening windows plus doors. My buddy and I also had a few fans around the house, including ceiling fans. However, on some afternoons this simply wasn’t enough to keep cool plus you could only shed so much clothing before you start walking around naked! So, sporadically to beat the heat, my great friend and I would go to places around town that my great friend and I knew had a/cs. There was a coffee shop plus a couple restaurants that my great friend and I liked. However, our favorite place to go to cool down was a local shopping mall that was very immense plus very well air conditioned. Although my great friend and I did a lot of shopping in the many stores in the mall, to be honest, my great friend and I would often go there plus window shop plus just spend as much time as possible in the air conditioning, but believe it or not, spending a morning at the mall plus spending the money on gas or a taxi fare to go to the mall ultimately ended up costing less money than running the a/c for that entire afternoon! Now that I live in a household that has central heating plus air conditioning plus I can afford the electricity bill every month, I am very grateful for it plus never take it for granted.
