I work in an office so I sit down all day long but lately I’ve been getting really sweaty.
This is because there’s something wrong with the air conditioner at work.
The whole office is getting hot and sweaty and stinky too. By 5:00, I just want to go home, shower, and relax near my air conditioning vent. My co-workers and I have been complaining about the work air conditioner but our manager doesn’t seem to notice or care. He keeps blaming it on the heat wave. But it’s not even summer yet and it’s this uncomfortable. What will happen in a few more months? Last year, the air conditioner worked great all summer long. Clearly, there’s more than just a heatwave to blame here. Management is just too cheap to pay to have an air conditioning company out and take a look at it and then fix it. I wonder if it’s legal for the managers to ask us to work in conditions like this. Even if it is legal, it certainly is not ethical. I guess we’re all just going to have to go and get ourselves personal air conditioning systems for our desks. With a dozen of those personal air conditioning systems running, it’ll use up a lot of electricity. Maybe that will get management’s attention and they will finally go ahead and fix the central air conditioning system. A similar tactic worked a few years ago when the furnace went out. They didn’t want to fix that either until we all started bringing in space heaters and blowing fuses all over the office. Finally they broke down and fixed the furnace. I just hope the same tactic works for the air conditioning system.
