It was with some trepidation that we finally embraced the fact that we needed more room.
I think this was more of a realization that our simple lives are getting more complicated.
But three dogs, two cats and two humans residing inside the heating and cooling of a two bedroom house was getting cramped. And once we decided that I was making the leap to working remotely full time, we knew we had to move or add on. Moving was out of the question. First, we love this house. Second, we love the property it sits upon even more. When we got this place it was a mess. We had to replace the residential HVAC and basically start all over with the kitchen. From there, we put a huge wraparound deck on our home. Honestly, we spend more time outside the air conditioning then maybe we spend inside it. Still, the longer we lived here, the more pets that we added to our family and the more stuff we acquired meant that we needed more space. Still, we were sort of scared that we would be ruining our home by adding on a big master bedroom. Those worries proved to be unnecessary once the new bedroom was completed. Not only does this new master bedroom and bath add significant value to our home, it’s solved all our space issues. And we were really glad when we were able to get a separate HVAC unit for our new space. We have a ductless heat pump that sits up on one of the exterior walls inside of our new bedroom. The ductless heat pump does an amazing job of providing the heating and cooling we need in our new space. That means the old central air conditioning wasn’t changed to accommodate the new space.
