When we arrived home from our trip last week, we couldn’t believe what met us when we opened the door.
We walked a kitchen that was sweltering hot and I realized immediately that the a/c had stopped running.
we have been gone for nearly three weeks and we were not sure how long it had been out but I knew we had to call someone right away. In the deep south, not having a/c during the heat of summertime is dreadful as we were not willing to even spend one day without it. Thankfully, the two of us have returned from our trip on a Thursday and our local heating and A/C repair company was open. They said they could have a specialist out within a few hours and that was a great relief. The funny thing is, when the guy first arrived at the new home he walked in and immediately said “ wow it’s genuinely hot in here”. I thought to myself, “yup Captain obviously it is hot in here, that is why the two of us called you”. He then went on to explain that the two of us should make sure the a/c is actually working. I wasn’t sure whether he was trying to be funny or not. All I know is that I wanted him to get to work getting our HVAC unit back up and running, As it turned out the system had shut itself off for safety reasons because the filter had become too blocked to operate it properly. It was a simple repair and once he had everything cleaned up as well as the new filter in locale it turned on without a problem. Both of us thanked him for his time as well as blissfully paid the small fee acquaintanced with the repair. Both of us decided that next time the two of us go away on a trip for that long we will have someone check in on the place to make sure that everything is running properly while the two of us are away.
