Sad way to spend the Holidays

I turned on the news yesterday morning and learned that a local family had experienced a house fire and lost everything.

Thankfully their family members and pets an escaped the horrific fire but their house and belongings were a total loss.

With it only being 3 days before Christmas I can’t imagine how the family must have felt to see the home they loved destroyed. Of course, they’re mean source of happiness was the fact that they were all alive and well but I wanted to do anything I could to help. The news reported that the fire had started in the basement of the home and I assumed that it had something to do with the HVAC system. In our area many of the homes are older and have basements that has these large unit and if they are not operating properly they can easily start a fire. The other issue, in many cases is the fact that people stacked boxes and such too close to the unit and these combustible items can easily catch fire. I’m not sure if that’s the exact cause but in any case I try to tell people of these dangers whenever I visit their homes to do a tune-up on their systems. The news program went on to tell you are as how they could help this family in this desperate time and one of the ways that they needed help was a GoFundMe say that was set up to raise money or their home. I talked to my boss when I got to work that day and he offered to give the family a gift certificate towards the purchase of a new HVAC system when they got to the point of rebuilding. I know that might seem like a small thing but it is one of the largest expenses when it comes to replacing appliances and I was glad that he was willing to offer.
